I am so excited that it is finally summer! Most of our summer dinners are cooked outside on our grill and it is my favorite! Although my husband and I would love to have hamburgers all the time, I feel so much better when I substitute beef for turkey every now and then. This BBQ turkey burger recipe is so good, that you won’t even miss beef for one second! My favorite ground turkey is Jennie O because it is so lean and is all-natural so I can feel good about what I’m feeding my family.
- ¼ cup chopped onion
- ¼ cup barbecue sauce, divided
- 2 Tablespoons dry breadcrumbs
- 2 teaspoons prepared mustard
- ¾ teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 pound Jennie O Ground Turkey
- 4 large leaf lettuce leaves
- 4 tomato slices
- 4 hamburger buns
- In a mixing bowl, combine onion, 2 Tablespoons barbecue sauce, breadcrumbs, mustard, chili powder, garlic powder, salt and ground turkey. Mix until well combined.
- Divide turkey mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties.
- Heat grill to medium-high heat and place patties on the grill. Cook 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.
- Serve patties on a bun with lettuce, tomato and remaining barbecue sauce.
